Jatobá from Brazil – Exotic Fruit – 500g
Prix par 100 g : 2.0 $/100 g
Discover jatobá, an exotic fruit native to tropical America and well-known in Brazil 🇧🇷. Also called courbaril, it is distinguished by its large pod with a very hard brown shell that protects a pulp completely different from usual tropical fruits.
Inside, jatobá contains a beige to pale yellow, dry, and floury pulp, which surrounds large seeds. Its texture can resemble a compact powder and its taste is mild, slightly sweet, and very particular, with notes that may recall vanilla, dried banana, and certain nuts.
Jatobá is especially interesting for lovers of rare and traditional South American fruits. Unlike a juicy fruit, its pulp is naturally eaten dry.
How to eat it?
Break the hard shell of the fruit to access the pulp. The floury pulp around the seeds is the part consumed. It can be eaten as is or used in drinks and certain traditional preparations. The large seeds are not eaten directly.
